Summary of AISV Workplace Relations Services

The workplace relations services offered to Member Schools include:

  • individual consultations with Member Schools by telephone, e-mail or in person;
  • individual Member Schools advocacy in relation to workplace agreements, unfair/unlawful dismissals, discrimination matters and dispute resolution;
  • sector-level advocacy for Member Schools regarding union issues, draft legislation and awards;
  • seminars and workshops covering employment-related issues and practices; and
  • sample policies, letters, contracts and other documents available for customisation to meet the particular needs of individual Member Schools.

The workplace relations staff members provide information and assistance in respect of:

  • the employment relationship, including conditions of employment;
  • the regulation of employment, in the context of legislation, regulations, general principles/precedents, and industrial instruments;
  • the applicability and interpretation of awards;
  • developing and negotiating workplace agreements;
  • managing employee performance and conduct matters;
  • terminating the employment relationship;
  • workplace restructuring;
  • resolving disputes with employees and/or unions;
  • equal opportunity and discrimination matters;
  • remuneration data and trends; and
  • general human resource management matters.
