AISV makes available to all its member schools a DVD with improved searching capabilities for Learning Objects and Digital Resources, as well as catalogues of the Learning Objects for teachers to browse. AISV is providing its schools with new content from the TLF twice a year.

The Learning Federation Content

Access to The Learning Federation (TLF) Online Curriculum Content for Independent Schools

The Learning Federation The Le@rning Federation (TLF) develops digital curriculum content for all Australian and New Zealand schools. Began in 2001, the project is a collaborative initiative of all Australian and New Zealand governments. The content is developed specifically to support students' learning of key concepts and skills detailed in all Australian and New Zealand curriculum documents. The content is free for all Australian and New Zealand schools. All copyright fees are paid upfront, so schools are not liable for further copyright payments to collection agencies such as Copyright Agency Limited.

Who can use TLF content?

Since October 2007 Independent schools in Victoria have been required to sign a License D Authorisation form to access TLF content. Independent schools that have not signed this authorisation are unable to use Learning Federation content within their schools. The License D and Authorisation form and the full license agreement can be downloaded from the AISV website.

How do independent schools access TLF content?

scootle1.png In May 2008 the Learning Federation provided independent schools with online access to its resources via Scootle. Scootle is an online repository that allows teachers to easily search and organize TLF content for classroom use. Each independent school requires a Scootle account to be created. This is done by AISV. AISV requires a person to act as school manager and contact for the Scootle school account. School managers are not required to set up individual accounts for teachers. Minimum administration is needed from within the school. Once the Scootle school account is created, a unique URL will be sent to the school manager to distribute to teachers for registration.

Please note that AISV can only create Scootle accounts for schools that have signed a License D Authorisation (see information above).

Please take some time to visit the Scootle website and consider the value of Learning Federation content for enhancing learning outcomes for your students.
