As the organisation that represents and provides advice to its Member Schools, AISV is committed to being a leader in achieving quality in education and assisting the sector to continue to strive for the highest standards.

AISV supports the development of clear, community-supported quality standards for the education sector.  It is an opportunity to establish benchmarks that will enable parents, governments and the community to assess the quality of all AISV Member Schools.

It is anticipated that AISV will play a role in arrangements to monitor independent schools’ compliance in meeting minimum standards set by the proposed Qualifications and Registration Authority described in the Victorian Government’s draft Education and Training Reform Bill released for discussion in December 2005. This activity will be quite separate from AISV’s role in representing Member Schools.

AISV is not a system authority managing schools but an association of independent schools, which provides professional services to inform its members and raise quality standards.  An example of AISV’s professional leadership is the development of Across the Board: Governance Guidelines for Independent Schools.

AISV will continue to underpin all of its activities with commonly understood and shared values embracing a commitment to quality outcomes for students and the independence of Member Schools.
