Independent schools in Victoria enrol most of the international students studying in all Victorian schools. There were 3,326 Full Fee Paying Overseas Students enrolled in independent schools in 2005, of which 3,174 were in secondary and 192 in primary.  Most students were enrolled in Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) courses.

Overseas students

More than 90 Victorian independent schools are registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students, which allows them to enrol overseas students. Most schools provide support services for international students and arrange for English language assistance.

Fees for overseas students are not subsidised by the Australian Government.

International students are valued for the richness of cultural experience they bring to schools and all students learn to work together in a spirit of understanding, goodwill and tolerance.
