More independent schools are providing pre-preparatory and kindergarten programmes.

About 80 schools offer early childhood programmes, including kindergarten for three and four-year-olds, day care centres and before and after kindergarten care.

Some schools have flexible arrangements for transition into primary school to suit children who may require additional time in pre-preparatory or who are ready to be moved quickly into their first primary class.
