Yes, if your school receives funding under the Schools Assistance (Learning Together - Achievement through Choice and Opportunity) Act 2004 (Cth.). Conditions of compliance You must submit the Census of non-government schools to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). If you have to comply, what do you have to do? The Census collects information on staff and students from all non-government establishments which have as their major activity the administration or provision of full time primary, secondary and/or special education. The data represents a 'snapshot' of the staffing and student numbers on Census Day. The Census collects data on:
Schools need to complete the DEEWR Census online (password required - supplied by DEEWR) by the required date (usually in early August). What are the consequences if you don't comply? Independent schools receive funding from the Australian Government under the Schools Assistance (Learning Together - Achievement through Choice and Opportunity) Act 2004 (Cth.) subject to the conditions which are set out in the Act. To receive funding, the school must sign a funding agreement with DEEWR covering the 2005-2008 quadrennium. Submission of the Census is a condition under the Act. Who will help you?
